I have tried linking the Spdif in with other AC3 directshow filters - Cyberlink, WinDVD (which don't have a PCM option in each respective configuration), FFdshow and the only succesful one was ffdshow and only after i enabled "all supported" under uncompressed in the codecs option but it still does not decode AC3/DTS bitsreams.Īnyway, i just wanted to know if there is another way for my PC to decode AC3 and DTS bitsreams from my Spdif input (with out me having to buy a creative soundcard). Also i have noticed with graphedit that when linking Capture Device (Spdif in) to Directshow filter (AC3 Filter) the PCM option of supported formats in AC3 filter must be enabled or else i get an error message. Theoretically shouldn't the AC3filter decode the AC3/DTS bitsream or is there more to it than i am aware.
Also when i use graphedit to link capture device (Spdif in)/Directshow filter (Ac3filter or Ffdshow Filter)/Output Device (Xonar Speakers) - and activate the link, it plays PCM audio but when it comes to decoding AC3 or DTS bitstreams all i get is noise. When i enable spdif-in in recording device there is sound. So far I have connected the toslink to the Spdif input of my Xonar so that my Xonar decodes the sound and forwards them to my analogue speakers. Sound quality is good but i know my Xonar has better DACS (or better wot-nots). I have an Asus Xonar d2X which i would like to use to decode audio coming from my PS3 and 360 which currently shares one toslink input of my receiver using a toslink switcher.
